AMSOIL Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Greases combine an overbased calcium-sulfonate complex thickener and a proprietary synthetic polymeric technology to provide outstanding performance. This custom-built technology helps give AMSOIL Off-Road Greases tenacious cling ability and maximum impact resistance to resist pound-out over extended service intervals, even in wet environments.

Extreme Impact Resistance in Heavy Equipment
Greased components in heavy equipment are subjected to serious abuse. Virtually all heavy-duty off-road equipment operates under heavy-load conditions. The extreme impact common to off-road equipment forces all of that heavy load (pressure) onto places where the equipment pivots, relying on the grease to prevent metal-to-metal contact. Lesser quality greases cannot withstand the load and are pounded out of the impact area. When pound-out occurs, heavily loaded components are left unlubricated, which can result in metal-to-metal contact and extreme amounts of wear.
In addition, one of a grease's main functions is to act as a seal around the perimeter of the greased component, preventing water, dirt and other contaminants from entering the component and increasing wear. Pound-out leaves equipment vulnerable to potentially devastating amounts of contaminants.
AMSOIL Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Grease's exclusive synthetic polymeric technology provides exceptional adhesion (ability to cling to components) and cohesion (ability to cling to itself) properties. It is engineered to resist pound-out better than other greases in heavily-loaded, extreme-pressure applications and stay in place longer, providing outstanding lubrication over extended service intervals and reducing the detrimental effects of missed grease points.
Calcium-Sulfonate Complex Thickener
AMSOIL Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Greases feature a calcium-sulfonate complex thickener for enhanced extreme-pressure performance. Calcium-sulfonate complex is the ideal thickener for off-road grease. Its inherent extreme-pressure benefits deliver excellent impact resistance.
Moly-Fortified Grease to Meet CAT Specs
AMSOIL Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Greases are heavily fortified with molybdenum for maximum wear protection to meet Caterpillar's requirement for pin and bushing applications. Excellent Water Washout Resistance
Greased components on heavy equipment are frequently exposed to water. AMSOIL Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Greases resist water washout to maintain the external seal on greased components and help prevent water and other contaminants from entering wear-prone areas.
AMSOIL Impact Simulator
Currently, there is no ASTM-certified (American Society for Testing and Materials) test that measures a grease's pound-out resistance. Since pound-out resistance is a critical requirement for grease used in off-road equipment, AMSOIL defined a new performance parameter and test to define a grease's pound-out resistance capabilities. The device, the Impact Simulator, uses compressed air to generate a controlled amount of force delivered from a metal rod, which can be calibrated to deliver a specified amount of force, making it an accurate demonstration of pound-out resistance properties.
The impressive demonstration of the Impact Simulator dramatically proves that, under heavy loads, AMSOIL Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Grease stays in place to provide excellent protection and maintains its seal to prevent contaminants from penetrating wear-prone areas. Similar to the regular extreme impact faced by greased components of heavy-duty equipment, the Impact Simulator puts AMSOIL Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Grease's superior adhesion and cohesion properties clearly on display. Field test results show that AMSOIL Off-Road Greases reduce grease consumption by up to 50 percent over competitive products. That allows operators to either maintain their current maintenance schedule and use up to 50 percent less grease per application, or extend the length of time between re-greasing intervals. Grease Compatibility
AMSOIL Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Greases are compatible with most other greases on the market. They are not compatible with greases formulated with calcium complex, conventional polyurea and clay (non-soap) thickeners.
