AMSOIL Quickshot SE Gas Treatment and Fuel Stabilizer

Premium Gasoline Additive That Helps Fight the Three Major Fuel Problems in Small Engines: Ethanol, Water in Gas and Dirty Gas

AMSOIL Quickshot SE Gasoline Additive Ethanol Treatment Gas StabilizerAMSOIL Quickshot SE is a premium gasoline additive formulated to thoroughly clean and restore peak performance in small engine and power sports equipment fuel systems. AMSOIL Quickshot SE Fuel Treatment effectively addresses performance problems related to ethanol, water in gasoline and dirty gas. It also stabilizes fuel between uses and during short-term storage periods.

Due to EPA mandates, the use of ethanol gasoline is on the rise and so are ethanol fuel problems in small engines. Ethanol absorbs water, which creates havoc in the fuel system and can damage engines. AMSOIL Quickshot SE Fuel Additive disperses and safely removes water from gas through the combustion process. Quickshot SE also softens and carries away deposits formed from bad gasoline, cleaning the fuel system and restoring peak performance. Quickshot SE reduces emissions and increases fuel economy.

AMSOIL Quickshot SE Fuel Treatment was tested in fuel containing 10 percent ethanol, also known as E-10 fuel. Controlled plugging of injectors showed a 70 percent flow improvement, while oxidation stability improved 44 percent over untreated fuel. Quickshot SE is a proven gasoline additive for motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs, boats, personal watercraft and other 2 cycle and 4 stroke gasoline engines.

Ethanol Fuel Problems

Ethanol in fuel has a tendency to absorb water. This ethanol and water mixture becomes heavier than gas and separates from the gasoline, sinking to the bottom of the gas tank (see photo below), where it quickly degrades and creates gum, varnish and other insoluble debris that can plug fuel flow passages. When the correct amount of fuel cannot flow to the engine, equipment becomes difficult to start and performance becomes unstable. The ethanol water mixture does not burn well — when this ethanol rich mixture is pulled into the engine, it creates a lean burn situation that increases combustion chamber temperatures significantly, which can lead to severe engine damage. AMSOIL Quickshot SE Fuel Treatment is designed to keep water dispersed throughout the fuel tank, moving it out as a normal part of operation and decreasing the chance of ethanol separation from the gasoline.

Ethanol and Water Phase Separation

Water Ethanol Phase Separation

When the ethanol water mixture falls to the bottom of fuel containers, it leads to lean burn situations. AMSOIL Quickshot SE helps keep water molecules dispersed to prevent phase separation.

Small Engines and Ethanol

Ethanol contains less energy per gallon compared to gasoline. While may new passenger vehicles have computer systems that sense and correct for high ethanol content, small engines and most power sports equipment are not programmed to detect this and a lean burn situation results. In addition, small engines and power sports equipment are typically used on an intermittent basis, so fuel sits in the tank, lines, carburetors and injectors for extended periods between uses. During this time, it absorbs water, degrades and causes deposit formation. This results in starting and performance issues. AMSOIL Quickshot SE restores peak performance in small engine and power sports equipment fuel systems.

Water in Gasoline

It is inevitable that water will find its way into gas tanks through condensation in tanks open to the atmosphere, gas pumps and other environmental conditions. If left untreated, water in gasoline will cause a myriad of starting, performance and corrosion problems. By keeping water dispersed in tiny molecules, AMSOIL Quickshot SE safely moves the water out of the tank through the combustion chamber where it vaporizes and goes unnoticed by equipment operators, protecting engines against damaging corrosion.

Bad Gasoline

Dirty gasoline presents a major maintenance issue in small engine and power sports equipment fuel systems. Contaminated fuel can form varnish, gum and insoluble debris that clog carburetors, fuel injectors and fuel filters. Carbon buildup can form on the tops of pistons that leads to pre-ignition, rough idling and poor throttle response. Gasoline problems are only expected to intensify in the coming years as the ethanol content in pump gasoline continues to increase.

Buildup inside injectors and carburetors is common and needs to be cleaned out on a continued basis to maintain peak performance. Although all gasoline sold in the U.S. is formulated with a lowest additive concentration (LAC) level of detergent additives, these detergent levels are not enough to prevent deposits from building up on critical fuel system components. AMSOIL Quickshot SE Fuel Treatment contains a unique chemistry that quickly softens and carries away deposits and buildups in fuel systems, injectors and carburetors, while also cleaning hard-to-remove deposits on piston tops, spark plugs and other combustion chamber parts.

A Proven Fuel Treatment for Small Engines

AMSOIL Quickshot SE was tested in fuel containing 10 percent ethanol, known as E-10, to measure its ability to clean and neutralize the damaging effects of ethanol water separation in pump fuel. In modified ASTM D-6421 testing, controlled plugging of injectors showed a 70 percent flow improvement with Quickshot SE treated fuel. In ASTM D-525 testing, oxidation stability of fuel treated with Quickshot SE improved 44 percent over untreated fuel.

During field tests, researchers assembled a number of different types of poorly running equipment. The equipment problems included rough idling, cycling difficulty, hesitation, failure to run and poor top end performance. It was suspected that all of the issues were caused by degraded fuel and carburetor-fuel injection problems. After burning one-half tank of AMSOIL Quickshot SE treated fuel, the equipment that was difficult to start and keep running began running efficiently. In extremely dirty equipment, the exhaust smoke turned black as the engine and fuel system cleaned up. Quickshot SE allowed for easy starts and peak performance after extended non-use periods in snow blower, snowmobiles, ice augers, lawn mowers, outboard motors, weed wackers, motorcycles and generators.

Fuel Stabilizer

AMSOIL Quickshot SE is designed to stabilize fuel between uses and during short term periods of storage. However, for extended or seasonal storage, AMSOIL Gasoline Stabilizer is recommended.

Environmental Benefits

AMSOIL Quickshot SE helps equipment run more efficiently, leading to reduced fuel consumption, reduced emissions, longer equipment life and less fuel-related breakdowns and maintenance requiring solvent-based cleanups.

Applications

AMSOIL Quickshot SE fuel treatment is recommended for use in all 2 cycle and 4 stroke gasoline engines. Use in motorcycle, snowmobile, boat, PWC (personal watercraft), ATV, garden equipment (weed trimmer, edger, tiller, leaf blower), lawn mower, snow blower, chain saw, generator, farm and construction equipment.

Note: Although Quickshot SE can be used in any gasoline engine, AMSOIL P.i. Performance Improver is a far better choice for gasoline engines in passenger cars and trucks because it is more convenient and economical. While AMSOIL P.i. Performance Improver can be used in 4 stroke small engines and power sports equipment, it does not provide fuel stabilization, which is one of the main benefits of Quickshot SE. Additionally, it can be difficult to pour in the correct amount of product. There are also no overtreatment issues with Quickshot SE in small engines.

Treatment Rate

AMSOIL Quickshot SE fuel treatment is designed for an initial clean-up dose of 8 ounces per 6 gallons of gasoline, followed by 8 ounces per 12 gallons thereafter. For best results, treat every tank of fuel with Quickshot SE to prevent breakdown of both straight-grade gasoline and ethanol gasoline. AMSOIL Quickshot SE comes in a convenient 8-ounce clear bottle with graduations on the side to ensure correct dosages.

One of the unique features of Quickshot SE is that overtreatment does not have any negative consequences. In fact, the rate of cleanup can be slightly accelerated by increasing the dosage.
