Increases Diesel Cetane up to 7 Points
AMSOIL Cetane Boost Diesel Fuel Additive is an ashless, alcohol-free additive that improves cetane up to seven points for increased power and performance in all diesel engines. High performance diesel engines operate best with cetane values of 50 or higher. Most diesel fuel sold in North America has a cetane value of 42 to 45.
What is Cetane Number?
Cetane number is the measure of a diesel fuel's ignition quality. Too long an ignition delay at high engine loads leads to an excessively rapid increase in pressure within the cylinder before combustion, which in turn leads to diesel knock, or rough operation, especially on cold starts.
Diesel Knock
The fuel cetane enhancers in AMSOIL Cetane Boost reduce ignition delay, solving diesel starting problems and drivability problems associated with low cetane number diesel fuels. Proper cylinder pressure rise rate during the combustion cycle is maintained, reducing diesel knock.
Increases Diesel Power and Performance, Reduces Engine Noise
As demonstrated on the chart, AMSOIL Cetane Boost Diesel Fuel Additive improves the spontaneous auto-ignition point of diesel fuel, which shortens ignition lag time. With AMSOIL Cetane Boost, diesel fuel ignites earlier in the cycle for more complete combustion, increasing diesel power and performance. AMSOIL Cetane Boost controls rapid pressure rise within the cylinder, providing smoother, quieter operation.

Applications
AMSOIL Cetane Boost Diesel Fuel Additive is recommended for use with all types of heavy- and light-duty, on- or off-road and marine diesel engines. Best performance is achieved when used with every new tank of fuel. AMSOIL Cetane Boost is excellent for use with Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel fuel (ULSD). Compatible with biodiesel and all types of exhaust emission systems such as diesel particulate filters (DPFs). (Although high concentrations of biodiesel decrease the benefits of AMSOIL Cetane Boost). AMSOIL Cetane Boost is alcohol free for seal and component compatibility.
Treatment Rate
One 16-ounce can of AMSOIL Cetane Boost Diesel Fuel Additive treats up to 160 gallons of diesel fuel, depending on the desired results:
- For best results with up to a seven point cetane increase, add one ounce of AMSOIL Cetane Boost per five gallons of diesel fuel (one bottle to 80 gallons fuel)
- For up to a three point cetane increase, add one ounce per 10 gallons of diesel fuel (one bottle to 160 gallons fuel)
AMSOIL Cetane Boost Diesel Fuel Additive comes in a convenient 16-ounce clear bottle with graduations on the side to ensure correct dosages. The bottle has a 22 ml. opening that fits directly into gas tanks. AMSOIL Cetane Boost is compatible and excellent for use with AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate and AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow Improver with Deicer. (Or, consider AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate Plus Cold Flow Improver, which combines both diesel fuel additives in one convenient package — the excellent anti-gelling properties of AMSOIL Cold Flow Improver with the superior detergency of AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate.)
