Exceeds Emission System Requirements — Extends the Life of Diesel Particulate Filters

AMSOIL Premium 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil is a low-sulfated ash formulation that exceeds the modern requirements for low emission quality diesel oil. It is compatible with all diesel exhaust treatment systems and is designed to extend the service life of diesel particulate filters (DPF).

Controls Soot Thickening and Wear

The advanced synthetic base oils in AMSOIL Premium 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil are naturally resistant to soot contamination. That, along with a heavy fortification of detergent/dispersant additives, keeps soot particles suspended independently, helping prevent the formation of larger wear causing particles. Viscosity increase is minimized and soot related diesel engine wear is controlled.

Increases Diesel MPG

The advanced synthetic technology used to engineer AMSOIL Premium 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil enhances viscosity properties and is proven to deliver better fuel economy. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Federal Test Procedure confirms that AMSOIL 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil provides up to 3 percent better diesel fuel economy than conventional 15w40 diesel oils! At a mix of 55 percent city/45 percent highway driving, the average improvement is 1.6 percent, and at straight highway driving the average improvement is 1.25 percent.

Reduces Oil Consumption and Emissions

AMSOIL Premium 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil has lower volatility (burn-off) than conventional petroleum oils. Because less oil vapor passes into the combustion chamber, oil consumption and emissions are reduced. Additionally, lower volatility helps AMSOIL 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil retain its viscosity after high-temperature service for continued dependable protection and excellent diesel fuel economy.

Excels in Extreme Temperatures

AMSOIL Premium 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil resists thermal (heat) breakdown, oxidation and sludge formation better than conventional petroleum oils. And unlike conventional oils, AMSOIL 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil contains no wax. It stays fluid in cold temperatures for improved oil flow, reduced bearing wear and easier starting.

Extended Oil Change Intervals

AMSOIL Premium 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil can extend oil change intervals far beyond those recommended for conventional petroleum oils. Its unique synthetic formulation and long-drain additive system (10.4 TBN) deliver superior engine protection, cleanliness and performance over extended oil change intervals. AMSOIL 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil provides maximum protection for up to 3 times the OEM-recommended oil change interval, even further with oil analysis. It is recommended for extended oil drain intervals in engines that are unmodified and in good operating condition.

Diesel Engine Service:

Three times (3X) OEM* recommendation, not to exceed 50,000 miles/600 hours or one year, whichever comes first, with the following exceptions. Drain intervals may be extended further with oil analysis.

• 2007 - 2009 Caterpillar C13, C15 on-highway engines must follow OEM drain interval
• 2007 - 2010 Dodge 6.7L, Ford 6.4L, GM 6.6L LMM light duty diesel pickups must follow OEM drain interval. Drain intervals can be extended further with oil analysis.

Gasoline Engine Service:

Two times (2X) OEM* recommendation, not to exceed 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.

*Original Equipment Manufacturer. Operating conditions and oil drain intervals for normal and severe service are defined by the OEM. Refer to your owner's manual.

Note: extended oil drain intervals are not recommended when using biofuels containing >10% ethanol or 5% biodiesel (B5). Follow OEM drain intervals or extend drain intervals with oil analysis.

Oil Filter Service Intervals

Extended oil change intervals are based on the user following AMSOIL recommended oil filter service intervals. Install a new oil filter at time of oil change.

• AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters and Donaldson Endurance Oil Filters are full flow oil filters designed for extended oil drain intervals. They stop smaller particles, have less restriction and last longer than regular oil filters. For best performance, use AMSOIL Ea or Donaldson Endurance oil filters. If using other brands of oil filters, install a new oil filter at time of oil change then change at the OEM's (original engine manufacturer) recommended filter change intervals.
• For maximum engine and oil life, AMSOIL Ea Bypass Oil Filters are specialized for the removal of small, wear-causing dirt particles. These filters are placed outside the main line of oil circulation, using an AMSOIL Bypass Oil Filtration System mount.

Good to Know

• For best results, use AMSOIL Engine and Transmission Flush before installing AMSOIL synthetic motor oil.
• For maximum engine protection, use an AMSOIL Ea Oil Filter and an AMSOIL Ea Air Filter.
• AMSOIL recommends checking the oil at a minimum of every 3,000 miles to maintain proper fill levels and maximum engine protection.

AMSOIL Premium 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil is recommended for diesel and gasoline engines, including those under warranty, requiring the worldwide specifications listed on the AMSOIL Corporate website (see "Engine Protection Requirements" below).

Note: AMSOIL Premium 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil is backwards compatible and safe to use in pre-2007 diesel engines. It is suitable for use in older on-road and off-road applications, with or without diesel particulate filters, fueled by ULSD, as well as higher sulfur containing fuels.
