Premium Formulation
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils are shear-stable,
long-life lubricants based on high-quality synthetic oil
technology. These oils are formulated with a premium additive
system that inhibits oxidation to prevent acid formation and
viscosity increase. Special anti-wear additives and rust
inhibitors provide optimum protection to expensive equipment and
foam inhibitors provide smooth hydraulic operation. AMSOIL
Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils also contain a very effective
zinc-based anti-wear/antioxidant additive which controls wear in
high-speed high-pressure vane and gear pumps while meeting the
lubrication requirements of axial piston pumps with
bronze-on-steel metallurgy.
Outstanding All-Season Lubricant
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils' outstanding viscosity
characteristics allow them to operate over a wider temperature
range than other hydraulic oils. At high temperatures and
pressures, these oils do not thin out, providing a tough
lubricating film that protects components against wear. Equipment runs cooler, extending the service
life of pumps, valves, motors, hoses and seals. They resist
vaporization at high temperatures, ensuring fluid integrity and
reducing the need to add fluid to the system.
In cold-temperature operations, the lack of paraffin
(wax) in AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils allow them to remain
fluid for immediate flow to the pump, better protection and
eliminating time and fuel spent on equipment warm up. Equipment
starts easier and the need for preheating with sump heaters is
reduced.
Readily Separates from Water to Prevent Oil Break Down
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils readily separate from water. The industry standard test
(ASTM D 1404) proves they have excellent demulsifying
characteristics to separate out moisture –- in most cases AMSOIL
Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils achieved 100 percent separation in
15 minutes. This allows operators to easily drain off unwanted
water and prevents unwanted oil/water emulsions that inhibit an oil's
ability to lubricate, allowing for longer lubricant life.
Resists Foaming Which Can Cause Spongy Hydraulics
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils are formulated to resist
foaming, even if the reservoir level is low. Foamy oils cause
spongy hydraulics, rapid lubricant oxidation and increased
cavitation. In the industry standard foam test (ASTM D 892),
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils gave no-foam performance.
Prevents Deposits
AMSOIL's synthetic base oils resist thermal
(heat) and oxidative (oxygen) breakdown, preventing carbon or
varnish deposits.
Reduces Energy Consumption by as Much as 10
Percent/
Increases Service Intervals up to 10 Times Longer
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils increase efficiency and
savings on energy, repair and maintenance costs. Studies
indicate that synthetic lubricants can reduce energy consumption
by as much as 10 percent, while providing clean, problem-free
operations and extended oil drain intervals.
They can provide service intervals up to 10 times longer than
possible with petroleum-based lubricants, reducing labor costs
and downtime.
Extended Service Life
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils are designed for long
life. The ability of the these oils to
dramatically extend drain intervals and excel in performance,
however, is subject to operating
conditions and maintenance practices. Monitoring
by oil analysis is recommended.
Improves Mobile Equipment Efficiency
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils meet the requirements for
Maximum Efficiency Hydraulic Fluid (MEHF) and can lower costs
and/or increase productivity in mobile equipment by 3 to 4.5%.
Improved pump efficiency can increase hydraulic power, reduce
fuel consumption and improve productivity.
Viscosity Grades and Applications
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils are available in six
viscosity grades: ISO 15, ISO 22, ISO 32, ISO 46, ISO 68 and ISO
100. AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils are excellent for
general-purpose use where extended drain intervals are desired
and in severe-duty operations where temperature extremes are
encountered. The correct viscosity grades of AMSOIL Synthetic AW
Series Anti-wear Hydraulic Oils are recommended for high- and
low-pressure gear, vane and piston stationary and mobile
hydraulic systems. Some applications include machine tools and
presses, mobile construction equipment, farming equipment,
logging trucks, boom trucks and plastic injection molding
machines.
- ISO 32 is the most widely used viscosity grade.
Automotive applications typically call for this grade,
referring to it as SAE 10W, and it is used in high pressure
gear, vane and piston pumps.
- The lighter grades, ISO 15 and ISO 22, although
recommended for all-season use, are ideal for arctic
applications (temperatures less than -20° F), such as
freezers and outdoor mobile hydraulics.
- ISO 46, ISO 68 and ISO 100 are recommended for heavy
industry high-pressure systems and circulating systems
specifying high viscosity hydraulic oils.
Compatibility
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Hydraulic Oils meet the performance
requirements of all major hydraulic manufacturers and are
compatible with hydraulic system seals, petroleum hydraulic oils
and most synthetic hydraulic oils. (They are not compatible with
phosphate ester or silicone fluids.) For optimum performance, it
is recommended that systems be thoroughly drained and, if
warranted, cleaned prior to installation.
