Praises AMSOIL!

LNG
Publishing Company, Inc.
In the March 2003 issue of
Lubes 'n' Greases,
Automotive Editor David McFall wrote an
in-depth article on the subject of extended oil drain intervals and
touted AMSOIL as a safe, cost-effective and environmentally preferred
choice. He praised AMSOIL for their commitment to excellence and labeled
AMSOIL "unshackled"
for never conforming to industry norms and standards.

Compare AMSOIL to Mobil 1,
Pennzoil, Quaker State, Castrol and more!

AMSOIL 10W-30 Motor Oil and ten
competing oils were subjected to a series of tests. AMSOIL
outperformed all the competitors in nearly every test! See the
impressive test results!

Formulated for the Severe Operating
Conditions of Today's Vehicles
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Synthetic 75W-90, 75W-110 and 75W-140
Extreme Pressure (EP) Gear Lubes are formulated for the severe
operating conditions of today’s pick-up trucks, SUVs, heavy
equipment and other hard-working vehicles. AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Gear Lubes provide performance beyond that
possible with conventional gear oil. These AMSOIL
custom products offer superior gear and bearing
protection, better friction and heat reduction,
increased efficiency and extended service
life.
- Superior film strength
- Controls "thermal runaway"
- Excellent protection in temperature extremes
- Reduces operating temperatures
- Protects against rust and corrosion
- Improves fuel efficiency
- Keeps gears running efficiently
- Allows improved limited-slip and locking differential
performance
- Longer oil, seal and equipment life
Outperforms Conventional Gear Oils
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR®
Synthetic 75W-90, 75W-110 and 75W-140 EP Gear Lubes are premium-grade
lubricants specifically engineered for high-demand applications,
such as trailer towing, heavy hauling, 4x4 off-road driving,
steep hill driving, frequent stop-and-go operation, commercial
use and racing. AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR®
Gear Lubes outperform all conventional gear oils and are
excellent for all types of vehicles, including turbo diesel
pick-ups, SUVs, vans, autos, trucks, delivery/utility vehicles,
heavy equipment and motor homes. Their superior lube "film
strength" and extra additives effectively protect bearings from
scoring and wear.
AMSOIL Ahead of the Curve
The automotive industry is not static. With technology
constantly improving, vehicle and engine designs change. Today's
vehicle line-up is vastly different than it was 10 years ago,
with SUVs and trucks representing the fastest growing segment of
the U.S. automotive market. In addition, the industry is moving
away from front -wheel-drive vehicles, and rear-wheel-drive
vehicles are making a strong comeback. The rapidly changing and
diversifying vehicle market requires new and improved gear
lubricants.
What's Changed?
Modern vehicles are designed with more horsepower and torque
than in years past, allowing them to haul and tow heavier and
heavier loads. This results in higher gear loading and hotter
running differentials. In addition, factors such as increased
interior space and lower floor boards push axles higher into the
vehicle's body, reducing air flow and increasing heat. The
closer proximity of the axles to the exhaust system also
effectively raises heat, while more aerodynamic body styles and
air dams result in restricted airflow to the differentials.
A number of factors cause SUV, pick-up truck and van
gears to operate under more severe conditions than over-the-road
trucks, contributing to increased temperatures, higher gear
loading and shorter drain intervals:
-
These vehicles have smaller
gears that must handle higher loads per square inch of
surface area
-
Their smaller sump sizes (and
lower volume of gear lube) cannot dissipate heat as well as
larger sump sizes
-
Air flow is significantly
reduced compared to over-the-road trucks
-
These vehicles are subject to
more frequent stop-and-go driving conditions and are more
susceptible to moisture from condensation due to varying
temperature fluctuations
The AMSOIL Solution
In order to optimize its gear lubes for modern applications,
AMSOIL has updated its gear lube formulations. These
state-of-the-art AMSOIL formulations feature an exclusive blend
of high viscosity, shear stable synthetic base oils and an extra
treatment of high-performance additives, allowing improved
limited-slip and locking differential performance. AMSOIL SEVERE
GEAR® Synthetic 75W-90, 75W-110 and 75W-140 EP Gear Lubes maintain their viscosity, providing an extra level of
protection at high temperatures and a longer service life.
Outstanding Friction Control
The extra additives in AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Synthetic 75W-90,
75W-110 and 75W-140 EP Gear Lubes provide additional insurance
against wear in case of a lubricant film breach. These additives
provide an iron sulfide barrier coating that effectively
prevents micro-welding that leads to heat and friction. This
allows AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Gear Lubes to prevent thermal
runaway, a phenomenon caused by a lubricant's inability to
control friction and increased heat under high-stress
conditions. By preventing thermal runaway, AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Gear Lubes inhibit rapid lubricant degradation and
component damage. Equipment runs better and lasts
longer with AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Gear Lubes.
Superior High- and Low-Temperature Performance
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Synthetic 75W-90, 75W-110 and 75W-140 EP
Gear Lubes excel in hot- and cold-temperature extremes. By design, they resist breakdown from
high heat, preventing acids and carbon/varnish
formation, and they significantly outperform
conventional petroleum lubes in cold temperatures. The wax-free construction
of AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Gear
Lubes allows them to stay fluid in cold temperatures, providing
the immediate lubrication components need during start-up. At a
temperature of 0°F, conventional lubricants may take as long as
18 minutes to flow and lubricate the front pinion bearing of a
differential, while AMSOIL 75W-90 is flowing in as little as 45
seconds, allowing for easier cold-weather shifting,
significantly better wear protection and improved fuel economy.
Rust and Corrosion Protection and Seal Compatibility
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Synthetic 75W-90, 75W-110 and 75W-140 EP
Gear Lubes
provide a durable, protective film on components to prevent the
formation of rust and corrosion. They also increase seal life
and reduce oil leakage due to pressure build-up. They are
compatible with the materials used to make seals and
will not cause excessive swelling, shrinkage or hardening.
Compatible with Most Limited-Slip Differentials
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Synthetic 75W-90, 75W-110 and 75W-140 EP
Gear Lubes are compatible with most limited-slip
differentials. If limited-slip differential
chatter occurs, add AMSOIL Slip-Lock
friction modifier additive.
Extended Service Life
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Synthetic 75W-90, 75W-110 and 75W-140 EP
Gear Lubes have
a longer service life than conventional gear lubes do.

Note: AMSOIL does not
support extended drain intervals where water
contamination occurs. Check and service the gear
oil frequently when water contamination is
possible. Gear oils should be changed more
frequently when operating vehicles or equipment in
dusty or dirty conditions unless the gear system
is properly sealed and equipped with membrane type
breathers.Applications
