Praises AMSOIL!

LNG
Publishing Company, Inc.
In the March 2003 issue of
Lubes 'n' Greases,
Automotive Editor David McFall wrote an
in-depth article on the subject of extended oil drain intervals and
touted AMSOIL as a safe, cost-effective and environmentally preferred
choice. He praised AMSOIL for their commitment to excellence and labeled
AMSOIL "unshackled"
for never conforming to industry norms and standards.

Compare AMSOIL to Mobil 1,
Pennzoil, Quaker State, Castrol and more!

AMSOIL 10W-30 Motor Oil and ten
competing oils were subjected to a series of tests. AMSOIL
outperformed all the competitors in nearly every test! See the
impressive test results!

Longer Gear Life
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75W-90 and 80W-140 Gear Lubes are
extended drain gear lubes engineered specifically to protect
gears better and last several times longer than all
conventional gear oils. AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic Gear Lubes are shear
stable and friction reducing, providing an extra margin of
protection that effectively increases gear life. Equipment lasts
longer and maintenance costs are reduced with
AMSOIL LongLife Synthetic Gear Lubes.
Reduces Operating Temperatures/Increases Fuel Economy
Due to their synthetic construction,
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75W-90 and 80W-140 Gear Lubes are
extremely effective at reducing friction. With reduced friction,
excessive operating temperatures in transmissions and
differentials are reduced and fuel economy is improved.
Resists the Damaging Effects of High Temperatures
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75W-90 and 80W-140 Gear Lubes
resist the damaging effects of heat and oxidation at
temperatures much higher than conventional gear lubes can
resist. They will not thicken or develop sludge, even under
severe operating temperatures such as those encountered in heavy
hauling and fleet operation. Their superior shear stability
allows them to maintain their viscosity during extended service.
Smoother Shifting in Cold Temperatures
In low temperatures, conventional gear lubes thicken to make
shifting difficult.
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75W-90 and 80W-140 Gear Lubes resist
low-temperature thickening to provide superior component
protection, smoother shifting and increased fuel economy. At a
temperature of 0°F, conventional lubricants may take as long as
18 minutes to flow and lubricate the front pinion bearing of a
differential, while AMSOIL Synthetic Gear Lubes flow in as
little as 45 seconds!
Excellent for All-Season Use
The superior high-temperature stability and cold-temperature
fluidity properties of
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75W-90 and 80W-140 Gear Lubes make
them excellent for all-season use.
Rust and Corrosion Protection and Seal Compatibility
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75W-90 and 80W-140 Gear Lubes
provide a durable, protective film on components to prevent the
formation of rust and corrosion. They also increase seal life
and reduce oil leakage due to pressure build-up. They are
compatible with the materials used to make seals and
will not cause excessive swelling, shrinkage or hardening.
Compatible with Most Limited Slip Differentials
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75W-90 and 80W-140 Gear Lubes are compatible with most limited slip
differentials. If limited slip differential
chatter occurs, add AMSOIL Slip-Lock
friction modifier additive.
Extended Service Life
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75W-90 and 80W-140 Gear Lubes have
a longer service life than conventional gear lubes do.

Note: AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where
water contamination occurs. Check and service the gear oil
frequently when water contamination is possible. Gear oils
should be changed more frequently when operating vehicles or
equipment in dusty or dirty conditions unless the gear
system is properly sealed and equipped with membrane type
breathers.Applications
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75W-90 and 80W-140
Gear Lubes, in the correct viscosity grades, are
recommended for all domestic and foreign
applications such as over-the-road trucks,
light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, off-road
equipment, commercial vehicles, motor homes,
autos, SUVs, emergency vehicles, buses,
delivery/utility vehicles and tractors.
Use AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic Gear Lubes in
differentials, manual transmissions or other
gear applications requiring the worldwide
performance specifications listed on the AMSOIL
corporate website (see below). Can also be used
in rear axles where API Service GL-4 lubricant
is recommended.
Performance Specifications
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75W-90 and 80W-140 Gear Lubes meet
or exceed specific performance standards of various domestic and
foreign manufacturers. Please visit the AMSOIL Corporate website
for an up-to-date listing on
75W-90 (FGR) or
80W-140 (FGO).
AMSOIL Gear Lube Recommendation Chart
AMSOIL has optimized gear lube performance for specific
operating conditions:
However, AMSOIL gear lubes are multi-functional and may be
used in many different applications, as shown in the chart
below. This chart conveys the best AMSOIL gear lube
recommendation for each application, based on product design and
operating environment, and is listed by it's rating for each
application: first (offers superior performance), second (offers
excellent performance), and third (exclusive to SAE 80W-90).
(Please note: This chart was produced before AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Synthetic 75W-110 Gear Lube was developed,
therefore SVT is not listed on this chart.) |
 |
Chart Notes:
-
AMSOIL 75W-90
Synthetic Gear Lubes (FGR and
SVG)
will outperform conventional
75W-90 and 80W-90 gear oils in
all applications and may be used
as a replacement
-
AMSOIL 75W-140 (SVO)
Synthetic Gear Lube will
outperform conventional 75W-140,
80W-140 and 85W-140 gear oils
and may be used as a replacement
-
AMSOIL offers 80W-90 (AGL)
synthetic gear lube for those
customers requiring this
specific viscosity grade
Additional Notes:
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Synthetic 75W-110

A Study of Gear Oils
Our website only touches the
surface of what is contained
in
A Study of
Gear Oils (1.98 MB). The purpose of this paper is to
inform consumers about the increasingly severe
conditions under which differentials operate and
to provide data reflecting the quality and cost
differences of popular synthetic and petroleum
gear lubes. With this information, consumers are
better prepared to make informed decisions when
purchasing gear lubricants.
