What Does a Fuel Savings of 8.2% Mean?

Testing performed by an independent facility showed that class 8 trucks with AMSOIL Series 3000 5W-30 Diesel Oil in the engines and AMSOIL synthetic lubricants in the drive trains obtained up to 8.2% more mpg than matched trucks lubricated with conventional products. A fleet of 100 class 8 vehicles running an average 120,000 miles per year at an average 6.5 mpg with diesel fuel at $4.35 a gallon will spend $8,030,769 on fuel annually. Controls Excessive Soot Loading Found in EGR-Equipped Engines

AMSOIL Series 3000 Synthetic 5W-30 Heavy-Duty Diesel Oil is heavily fortified with detergent/dispersant additives and is naturally resistant to soot. It keeps soot particles suspended independently, preventing them from attaching together to form larger, wear-causing particles. Viscosity increase is minimized and soot-related wear is controlled.

AMSOIL Series 3000 Synthetic 5W-30 Heavy-Duty Diesel Oil loses only 6.7% of its mass to high temperature volatilization (evaporation) in the NOACK test, outperforming all conventional oils. Lower volatility means AMSOIL Series 3000 5W-30 Diesel Oil retains its viscosity in high-temperature service, providing excellent fuel economy and better wear protection. And, because less oil vapor passes into the combustion chamber, oil consumption and emissions are reduced.
     More importantly, AMSOIL Series 3000 5W-30 Diesel Oil retains its specified viscosity throughout its service life -- that means that the protection that is put in the engine is the protection that stays in the engine. Less Foam Means Better Drivability

Some vehicles have been known to suffer drive-ability problems due to oil foaming. Foamy oil interferes with fuel injection, which reduces engine power. The ASTM D892 Foam Test, Sequences 2 and 4, are used to evaluate diesel oils on their foaming characteristics.
     According to test results, AMSOIL Synthetic Diesel Oils are clearly less prone to foaming (see graph). If using other brands of oil filters, install a new oil filter at time of oil change then change at the engine manufacturer's recommended filter change intervals.

If using an AMSOIL Ea™ Oil Filter, install a new oil filter at time of oil change then change at two times the OEM standard interval, not to exceed 60,000 miles in long-haul trucks.
